A/W17 Coat Trends

Coats play a starring role in our autumn/winter wardrobes and its no surprise they featured heavily on the catwalks. Here are some of the hottest coat trends you'll be seeing on the high street.

Zara is always the place to go to for tailoring and it's no surprise that this year they have gone all out.  Power dressing has been around for a while but this season it featured in shows at Calvin Klein, Celine and Victoria Beckham. This double-breasted coat is just £69.99. It is fully lined and made from 100% polyester. It has a lapel collar and long sleeves. The side pockets, back vent at hem and button fastening in the front give it that practical edge. This coat also ties in with the heritage trend seen at Stella McCartney and Burberry. The boxy fit allows the coat not to look to structured along with the neutral colours it makes it a very wearable coat.  You can dress it up for work with a tailored trousers and shirt combo or pair with some boyfriend jeans a  t-shirt for the weekend. This is a great piece to introduce tailoring into your wardrobe.

It may be winter but that doesn't mean colour didn't play a big part on the catwalks. Everyone from Fendi to Prada to Max Mara all had colour pop pieces especially the colour red. This Red long Lined Coat from New look is a steal at £34.99. Its polyester/viscose mix makes it perfect for those of us who are a little clumsy ( it's machine washable)  and will brighten up any wardrobe. It's simple long sleeves, with a long-line design with collared neck gives this coat a casual fit. It would be perfectly teamed with a black t-shirt and jeans for a smart casual look or if you are feeling really brave you could take the trend full force and do a head- to – toe red look. This is the perfect coat for anyone with a wardrobe full of black and neutral clothing.

Last but certainly not least is one of my favourite trends for this autumn winter….Futuristic. We are talking high-shine, metallics, glitter and this Monki Vinyl coat is the ultimate piece at just £50. This 100% polyester glossy vinyl coat has snap fastening buttons with slant pockets. It goes with pretty much anything with its black colouring yet the shine gives it an edge to any outfit. With Chanel and Christopher Kane basing their entire collections around this trend, I think it's safe to safe that you'll be on trend with this piece.
