Well Hello 2014!

So I haven't blogged for 2 weeks through choice as I wanted to enjoy the christmas break with family and friends without worrying about work or my next blog post. It was a break well needed I feel refreshed and ready to tackle whatever 2014 has for me. I hope you all had a lovely christmas and NYE. This year Glenn and I had the family round ours for our first christmas dinner which was a great success. The food went well, the turkey (which was mahoooosive) was succulent and not dry (yay to me) and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I do have a few pictures to share with you and if your interested in what I did you Christmas dinner I have a pin board with all the recipes pinned to it here.
On christmas day I got up at 7:30 to remove the Turkey from it's brine, wrap it in bacon, put it in the oven for 8am and then begin the mulled cider syrup. This was the first year in a while I didn't have a drink on Christmas eve and woke up without sore head. Glenn and I pulled our christmas jumpers out (both from Primark) and enjoyed the festivities of christmas day.

The table was set out the night before and I went for a white and silver theme so it matched the kitchen decor (yea I'm a loser who likes things matching). I made the rope mini christmas trees (link on how to here) and brought the white glitter christmas men from Tesco for a £1. The placemats were made from a table cloth I got from The Range and then I cut them into the shape needed for plates and drinks and used the rest to cover the table we added to the end to fit everyone in. The stunning flowers were from Glenn's Dad and they are still going now. I didn't have enough matching plate sets so I went for a white plate theme instead and mixed lots of different shapes, which I think worked quite effectively.

On NYE Glenn and I visited Gordan Ramsay's Maze restaurant for the best meal I have ever had. We went for the chefs menu which included 7 courses. We also had champagne cocktails that were out of this world. The pictures below are just phone pictures as I didn't take my camera with me. We then celebrated the count down in a gay bar in soho which was great fun. However this is the second year in a row that we have gone to London to see the fireworks and ended up in a bar instead. Blaming the champagne cocktails.

So that was my Christmas and NYE, I hope you all had an amazing time. I have some resolutions for 2014 and some include some new ideas for my blog. I'm excited about 2014 I think it's going to be a good one.
