If You Haven't, You Should

Make a DIY Flower Crown #2

Hi all, so here is my second DIY flower crown post. This one is slightly different to the one I did with the hard headband (you can view it here) and instead of putting flowers all around the headband I decided to just put a couple on. However if you wanted to put flowers all the way round it would still work.

What you will need for this DIY flower crown.

Faux Flowers: I got mine from Wilkinsons for a couple of pounds and they have wire in the stems already so work perfectly.

Soft Headband: This was one I already had but the elastic had broken in it, so now I use it to just tie round my head which makes it more versatile as well. I will explain why later.

Needle and Thread: You can purchase this from anywhere I think I got this little box from Tesco.

Step 1:
Cut your stems so you have about an inch left. You need to make sure you have enough to bend around the headband. If you do have a pair of pliers use these as they would make your life a lot easier but I couldn't find mine so I used my hands and the scissors instead. You are threading the stalk through the material headband like below.

Step 2:
Once you have attached the stems and you are happy with where they are you want to secure them with a needle and some thread. I stitched around the stems through the material headband to make sure they were secure. Once you are happy with this you can cut the end of the stems even shorter, you need some industrial pliers and scissors to do this.

You can repeat this with as many flowers as you want I just did two for this one. The best thing about the material headband is you can tie it however you want. I tied it around my head and put the flowers to one side to create a flower behind the ear look.

I also then used the material headband to tie around a bun and create a more interesting look to an up do. This meant the flowers were further back on head which I actually preferred.

If you do have a go at this please let me know and Tweet or Facebook me your pics because I would love to see how they turn out.
