Make a DIY Flower Crown #1
Hi all, so I haven't done a "if you haven't you should" post for a while and this one is coming in two parts. I have been meaning to try, to make my own flower crown for a while now and it's so easy I think I will be creating myself quite a collection. The first post on this is how to create a flower crown using a hard headband. The second part that will be up next Sunday is using a material headband as I used two slightly different techniques. There are loads of tutorials out there but I decided to have a go the way I would do it. I am not that great at creating stuff but I always give it go, making it as simple as possible.
What you will need for this DIY flower crown.
Faux Flowers: I got mine from Wilkinsons for a couple of pounds and they have wire in the stems already so work perfectly.
Headband: This was one I already had but never use but their are plenty of cheap ones out there.
Coloured Tape: This was also from Wilkinsons and only 75p.
Cut your stems so you have about an inch and half left. You need to make sure you have enough to wrap around the headband. If you do have a pair of pliers use these as they would make your life a lot easier but I couldn't find mine so I used my hands and the scissors instead. I did also realise that the flowers come off after I did the first one which also makes it so much easier to wrap around the headband.
Once you have attached all stems and you are happy with where they are use the green tape to wrap around the headband so they don't slip. It also makes it look tidier (although not as tidy as I would like but no-one will see it) and more comfortable for your head.
Re-attach the flowers and just bend them forward a bit so you are happy with how they sit. I would also dap a bit of clue on the end of the stem so the flowers stay as I had one that kept falling off. You will then be left with a perfect flower crown for the summer and festival season. I will definitely be taking mine to glastonbury with me.
As you may have noticed in this picture my eyes are shut. The sun was so bright I couldn't look at the camera when I took the picture which I am not going to complain about at all because it has been such a beautiful weekend. I am very much hoping the sun will stay.
If you do have a go at this please let me know and Tweet or Facebook me your pics because I would love to see how they turn out.
